Artistic Life Casting

Life casting is the art of creating a three-dimensional replica of the human form, resulting in a unique keepsake produced in plaster, resin or another material.

The process typically requires 1-2 hours or less from the client, and a finished cast (depending on the material) is available for pickup in as little as a single day. In many cases same-day pickup is possible, meaning if you are coming in from out of town you can schedule a day trip to Chicago around your life casting experience.

The cost of life casting varies depending on the requirements and materials used, but listed here are some general prices to give you an idea:

  • Single hand - $100

  • Joined hands (pair) - $175

  • Face (stopping at hairline) - $150

  • Face (front half of head, bald cap used) - $200

  • Head and shoulders bust - $450

  • Full torso (front or back) - $300

These basic prices are based upon a finished product cast in Ultracal 30 (a strong cement with excellent detail reproduction) with no additional detail work. Additional features such as resin casting, painting, faux finishes, custom bases and other options are available for an additional fee.

  • I reached out to Chris to see if he could capture my baby girls feet before her surgery. Not only did he respond promptly, but he took time out of his weekly schedule to fit us in last minute. Chris was kind, gentle, and quick to work as our daughter is only 19 months old. The life casting turned out better than I expected and am so glad we had this done to cherish her little special extras during this bittersweet time. Thanks Chris for sharing your talent!
